Since I have decided to make a few bits and bobs, I thought I’d start a thread to post some photos, progress, hints/tips etc… For anyone who might be interested in seeing
So far I’ve just made my scale bench, but I’ll post some progress shots of the other stuff I am working on, a tool chest and a stack of shelves.
I plan to make some more stuff in the near future too!My pallet.
W.I.P on the scale bench.
Bench complete.
It all starts with a sheet of styrene!
Not trying to reinvent the wheel! (more on this later, I know I can do better than this attempt!
Never throw your off cuts away!
Some balsa work.
Rather annoyed at myself the top shelf isn’t quite 100% straight, but the rest actually are, which surprises me!December 2, 2017 at 11:07 pm #67673Membertoyolien- Scale Off Road Pro

A little update chaps.
First coat of colour on the tool chest and a quick sand, I wasn’t sure what colour to go for, most people do red to copy Snap-On, but I wanted something different, so copied my SCX10s blue, hopefully it’ll come out right when finished!A coat of coffee on the shelfing unit
And a little idea I had, but wasn’t sure if I was going to actually do… It looks like I am lol.
Hmmm, what are these?
I hope this is a subtle enough hint!
I couldn’t have them all just normal, but also didn’t want to make them all super detailed, so I’m sort of copying my own shelf of spray cans, a couple have missing lids etc… So here is my effort, so far, still a way to go yet
Need to try and find someone who can print me the labels!December 5, 2017 at 5:29 pm #67674MemberGrasshopper- Scale Off Road Pro

Some really cool bits there; I like the coffee staining, wouldn’t have ever thought about doing that.
Regarding the labels for the cans, having discovered the ridiculous cost for small format single runs on SAV (and I’ve got friends in the print trade..) I would just go down the route of standard laser print on to paper and trying various lo-fi lacquering solutions like straight CA glue, clear tape or similar. There are also self-adhesive papers you can get to run through desktop printers.. Just my two cents ::thumb::

I didn’t have any proper varnish and wondered if it would work, tested it and it did and surprisingly, it’s not sticky either after a 24hr dry.
Thanks for the tip, I am in contact with a couple of people now who think they can do it, I just need to get a picture done of the label on the can which is a lot harder said than done.December 7, 2017 at 3:39 pm #67695MemberOh How Original- Scale Off Road Pro

More done to the spray cans and also a size reference £1 coin.
Still working on someone doing the stickers for me though, but I think I have that in hand, once I can get the right images of the can for the label, although I’m unsure if to actually go Tamiya now, because the cans are a bit the wrong shape.December 7, 2017 at 5:27 pm #67675MemberJamie tee- Scale Off Road Pro
