      Hi all,

Thought I would post up the start of another build of yet another D90..

      Chassis is RadshapeRC`s excellent T-Rail.

      Radshape%20T-Rail%2001.jpg

      Radshape%20T-Rail%2002.jpg

      Chassis built without the outriggers.

Chassis weighs in at 11.2oz/318g with the outriggers.

Scx chassis with an alloy centre skid weighs in at 7.8oz/222g.

The T-rail is laser cut from 4mm ally and has a nice black anodised finish. All of the chassis parts are ally no plastic involved. Even the screws are of a decent quality, stamped with 10.9 on the heads (ie High tensile).

It goes together nicely, and feels great in my hands. I am not sure about using the chassis servo mount, I will experiment with it.

Finally got some bits in the post (well apart from the Killer transfer case got that a couple of weeks ago).

      New_bits_1.jpg

Some new plated TLT housings, the axles I had for this where in a bad way. And the plated housings where the only ones I could find. Picked up a couple of sets of the Junfac 1.9 wheels as well. Not sure if they are going on this rig yet, might use the RC$WD OEM`s with mud thrashers. Got some Mud pluggers on their way as well.

I can finally start the build now

Looking forward to seeing this build, I got a few questions about the chassis…

        1. How long is it? the same as the scx10?

        2. whats the width of the bumpers?

        3. I don’t know if you have a scx10 chassis to see if it would but, do you think the cross member beams from a scx10 chassis would line up with the chassis holes?

As I am un-sure about that big rear cross beam at the rear which you get with it then having nothing up the front end only the bumper…

8 wheels; should We be reading further into this? :P

What’s the plus point of TLT axles compared to most others?

I ordered 4 packs of wheels, well just because. As I never seem to have enough wheels :side:.

TLT`s work the best under the D90, as they are narrower than SCX10`s. Only problem is There is no under/overdrive option for them. As The Tamiya axles all have the same ratio. Well the Cr-01, Hilift, TLT are. Not sure about the 1/14 lorries.

I reckon there are enough potential projects to replace full time employment.

Well its about time that I started putting this rig together. The TLT axles that I got for this build where a mess when I stripped them down, so I decided to get a fresh set of housings to begin with

                    Bling%2520axle.jpg

At the time I could only find Tamiyas own plated housings so I thought what the heck and pressed the button..

Then I was checking over the diffs and pinions and they where getting on, so I remembered when I rebuilt my other 90(also running TLT`s) That CR-01 diffs and pinions fit the TLT axles(and Hilifts). Bonus of using the CR-01 set is that the pinion has a hole drilled in it to take a grub screw pin, you can just see the hole in the photo

                    CR-01%2520Diff%252001.jpg

Thought I would post a pic of the only way for me to lock a Tamiya diff, no messy glue or blue tac for me, just use a spare Tamiya spider gear.

                    Tamiya%2520Locked%2520Diff.jpg

Here is the completed rear axle

                    Rear%2520axle%252001.jpg

I have got some GPM alloy knuckles for the front axle on their way from sunny HK, I ordered two sets as I didnt want my other D90 feeling left out.

How do you rate the chassis so far?

Andy can you tell what the diameter is across this chassis both internally and externally please, just interested to see if it will fit my current finished hilux.

                            Thanks

I like the quality and feel of the chassis too, not sure yet what I am going to put on it yet but thinking about using the sdi a les I have and possably doing a 130 crew cab landy on it if it’s long enough.
                              That’s looking good Andy.

                                Thanks everyone :)

                                internal diameter is 72.5mm
                                External diameter is 80.5mm

AS I AM UN-SURE ABOUT THAT BIG REAR CROSS BEAM AT THE REAR WHICH YOU GET WITH IT THEN HAVING NOTHING UP THE FRONT END ONLY THE BUMPER…

Overall length including bumpers is 423mm

                                Bumper width is 185mm

An scx10 skid doesnt line up with the holes in the chassis.

Up the front you have a chassis servo mount, the chassis when built as stock is solid as a rock.

Thanks for the info. I like how you used some extra lower mount to holde the rods to mount the body on… bumper and body lines are looking clean also…
