Had a box finally show up from China (ordered on June 22)

    20180803_092126

and needing a distraction from the K-10 build as i was getting impatient doing detail work which I want to get right.

This weekend is going to be build a Bronco weekend.

I only bought the chassis and body as I had a suitable set of axles and transmission sitting idle. So the spec is going to be as follows.

TFL-racing Bronco Tube chassis and fibreglass body

    Mad Moose Portal axles

GCM Transmission and LRT transfer case

    Tekin ROC 412 Motor (3100KV I think)

    Castle Mamba Max Pro

Wheels are SSD 1.9’s with Pitbull rockbeasts and CI foams.

Today I got all the links made including 3 linking the front and installing a panhard, as the chassis appears to be set up for 4 link front and rear. Got the axles, transmission and servo mounted, the rear propshaft made and the floor section painted black.

Forgot to take pictures as I went along so here are a couple of how it sits at the moment.

    20180804_20592220180804_20591520180804_205919

Tomorrow should see the front prop done, the electrics installed, battery box made and installed and the body getting it final colour applied.

Great to see another one of these,

One thing I did to the body/frame before paint was tap the mounting holes to m3 so there’s no fiddling with nuts and bolts when fitting the shell and also fixed in some spacer’s so the shell doesn’t pull up to far.

I had spotted the need for spacers but the tapping I hadn’t thought of, I shall add it to the list of jobs for today. 🙂

    Update time.

Did get it quite finished but have achieved a lot today.

Cage is painted, battery box is mostly made, dash panel modified and painted, electrics tray installed. Body is also wrapped up 😉

just need to sort the shock oil and springs, hook up the electrics, fix the seats down and make a lid for the battery box.

I will probably finish the last bits of at some point in the week.

    Thanks for looking.

I like it too Pete. Colour looks great. Bonnet looks way better than just being black.

Is that Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli driving it?

Cheers, I wasn’t to sure about the yellow but it’s kind of grown on me.

Cheers Neil, driver is (allegedly) Luke Duke.

Maiden run today . Apart from the steering link unbolting its self early on, loosing one M2 screw from the beadlock ring on one of the front wheels and adding some rock rash to the wrap it performed way better than I expected, including getting the best part of 3hrs, fairly hard, run time out of a single 2200mAh battery. Need to make a couple of minor tweaks (remove the front towing eyes and add a rear sway bar) but I shall be calling this one done until of the scale nationals in October.40591315_477744842742432_6424858126595391488_n40537854_409161752945926_3210919487519850496_n40612714_257754724872938_7048756985956663296_n40655329_478146865995357_7861084719247523840_n40684586_697497877251661_7033189636474142720_n40685391_538543746595283_6841026937020743680_n

    New Grill too.

    20180921_15164620180921_16361020180921_163615

It also got a new ESC (Castle Mamba X) so I can make full use of the motor and run 4S lipos.

next update will be after the Nats.

    Thanks as ever for looking.

    4s?

What sort of comp needs 4s?

    Anyway. Nice and continuously styling.

Looks a bit angry. I like it.

To be honest it doesn’t really need 4S, but due to running portals and the GCM gearbox/transfer case (which has a fixed pinion gear size) it was a little bit down on wheelspeed for my liking, and I have some 4S lipo’s that fit in the battery box.

So today I found the torsional limits of the rear axle. ooops

    20180930_115754

Totally driver error, had all the wheels bound up in a gully and tried to nudge it free with a little bit of throttle, resulting in the above mess. I didn’t find all the bits as they came out a quite some speed, fortunately the metal bits ara all good and i think I have a plan to fix it in time for the nationals.

    Watch this space.
