RC4WD are marketing this as a class 2 competition truck, A couple of initial thoughts. It comes with their D44 narrow axles. These are undoubtedly very nicely made and very strong axles, however they were initially designed as all metal replacements for the SCX10’s stock axle and subsequently are yesterday’s news, huge pumpkins in an era of portal axles and small pumpkins.
The transfer case offers no overdrive. Why, having recently released a transfer case with over drive options did they not include it, perfect for a comp rig? Those Twister servos are also next to useless in the comp environment. It’s a nice truck but it’s not a comp truck.
I am thinking about getting back into crawling and going to some events next year, this truck has really caught my eye as a starting point to build off as and when funds allow.is there still a uk scale scene ? and is there a class for this truck which i can take it straight into ?
I no there is plenty more capable rigs out there but i have owned most of them many years back,e.g plenty scx10’s a couple trail finder 2 plus many more.
There are small clubs dotted around the country which hold regular scale competitions. My local one runs class 1 and 2 courses on a monthly basis. In terms of national events there’s currently the Recon G6 and the Scale Nationals, the later of which was a week or so ago.
I would suggest that out of the box the C2X would sit performance wise somewhere between and TF2 and an SCX10 type rig. With some mods it could be pretty capable but I think you’d struggle to challenge the real class 2 performance rigs.
