Did a quick mockup with it sitting at the correct height and the tracks:

And this 2 videos of the suspension working on the new springs. Think that’s the ones!!

About the tension system, mine it’s fairly simple and was the only thing i did not resembling the 1:1,because it was hard to replicate.

It consists on a “lever”, similar to the suspension arms, rotating on a pivot and with a shock pushing outward.

Putting different springs inside of the shock, adjusts the tension

    Here’s a video :

And a quick test, pushing the car by hand

Well guys, don’t know about you but I’m super excited about pulling this off. A lot of work but paid off. The drivetrain works and the truck moves. It’s close to been finished. Only cosmetic details and mechanical adjustments

    First, the usual flex shot:

    And now, the video proof:

Again, have to adjust the teeth on the traction and keep adding tension on the tension wheels. It moves well back and forth but turning it’s still a problem. Tracks keep going off the guides.

Brilliant stuff, it’s the little touches.. I like how you show the development from rough idea to finished item – it shows that these things are all achievable with a little foresight and work.

    Really coming along now!

Thanks guys. I’m having fun doing as much  details as I can. Because I’m taking time doing this truck, some stuff that seemed out of reach, is doable after a while.

    One more detail:

That frame above the cab needs it’s MG, in the case of the M548, usually was a Browning M2. A .50 caliber machinegun

Mine was printed and the 3d model was supplied by a fellow spaniard who is making the same truck

    1. Added to that, the MG pivoting mount, ammo box and cradle

    Ammo box:

    And the paint:

The 3d modelling on that gun is fantastic, nice painting too. ¡Esto está genial!

Thanks. I have to agree that was well modeled. Imagine that he model and 3d printed ALL the truck. Gearboxes, body, chassis, wheels, tracks, everything!!  he might release the files in the future, all the 150 of them!

One more thing about my M2:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1J5VbgjzONY

Pivots 360º, the ring also 360º and goes up and down. It’s necessary? no but  looks cool 🙂

So…couldn’t wait to test it. Here’s a quick and crude edit from that day. We’re still learning how to drive it and see it’s limits. Tried some soft climbs, it reaches the top, eventually. Have to stiffen the last 2 springs and adjust again the tension. Tracks slipped out twice but doesn’t stuck like the first attempts.

    Hope you like it!

Awesome stuff! Looks very at home out in the wilds.

I guess it was a peacetime mission? (no gun!)
