I built up what I could before painting and tidied up where I needed to to get the gaps right and the body sitting correctly. I ditched the rear door hinges for scale ones, added a fuel filler in the right place and put the side steps and sump guards on. I also sanded and finished where I needed to

The rear bumper to body to mud flap positioning took several goes to get them fine tuned but it’s well worth it in the end. The good weather and long evenings meant I was happy to just sit for a few hours at a time and plod on through it all.

The detailing really makes all the difference on these bodies!

Thanks for looking. More as and when.

Top work as always Tim, look forward to seeing the finished result on this one.

P.s. Where did you get those hinges for the rear door?

Looking good Tim. Love the sump guard.

Damo, you can get them on ebay. Can’t do link things, here’s the eBay number 262602530413

Thanks! Yep I got them off eBay and I think they came from Eastern Europe or a Russia. They’re really scale, well worth the change.

Another update! I got some coats of primer on and used a fine wet and dry to cut back where I needed to, this gave me a nice and smooth surface to paint onto.

I then painted the shut lines and hard to get places by hand. It’s odd, but I actually quite liked this look.

First couple of coats of black went on next, this is just before it was rubbed down again with fine wet and dry

After the wet and dry I then built up several layers and finally polished the top coat of black. I wanted to leave it like this…

Well this was a nervous few hours. I’d spent a fair bit of effort trying to get the colours to match and from this first image I wasn’t happy. You’ll see the situation changes a bit with the red colour. I emptied two cans of red paint on this part of the build
