Doing the build-off thing on SBG. The idea is to start with this

    ChinaJK_zpscvcupggg.jpg

…and turn it into this (it’s a Fab Fours Legend) –

    FabFoursLegend_zpsgxnmq0ba.jpg

After which I’m going to do something like this to it:

Not saying it’ll work out like that, but it’s the plan I had when I started.

Got myself the biggest tires I could find (1.9 Mud Thrasher from the Bronco in there for reference) and some window tint.

    Parts01_zpszkjqnqgp.jpg

Then trimmed the wheel arches back a little.

    wheelarches01.jpg

    Started on a scale 4″ chop –

    chop03.jpg

Cut the roof up to make it wider and longer to accomodate the chop,

    chop05.jpg

    Which bring us here:

    Then started on the grill.

And here it is taped to the Jeep.

If General Greivous was a transformer, he’d be this Jeep.

More bonkers. Are they 2.2’s? Is this on the gcm chassis? Are you hiding more receipts ::eek

Lol that’s funny ::lolz it’s the same rig that’s under the JK Brute so no, no hidden receipts other than the tyres and yes, they’re 2.2s. The 1:1 Legend has 50″ tyres(!!), and the 1:10 ones are still too small ::rolleye

Anyways, last weekend I started on the fenders.

    wheelarches03.jpg

Made a mount for them to be stuck onto.

    wheelarches06.jpg

And assembled two fenders to try out for size:

    wheelarches09.jpg

So this brings us up to date. Got the remaining wheel arches almost done. Until then, this is the thing today:

    wheelarches10.jpg

See what I mean about General Greivous? Still bleak that Obi Wan did him in – I’m sure he would’ve paid top dollar for this…

Cleaned the roof up a little. First I did some surgery to straighten out the kink in the left back window, and then smoothed the top.

    chop06.jpg

    chop07.jpg

Also did some more work on the front wheel arch –

Needed a break from wheels and wheel arches, so I cut out a hatch, a frame, and some hinges.

    hatch01.jpg

    Hole in the roof…

    hatch02.jpg

    …and insert hatch.

If it’s going to be a smuggler and a blockade runner, it needs somewhere to shoot a bazooka from.

Got better-sized tyres. Way smaller than the 1:1 but they look right.

The last of the body hacking.

    engine01.jpg

It’s a 6.7L Cummins diesel – pretty much the same as in the Dodge Ram.

Still needs heaps of detail. Also planning a pair of turbo chargers, if I can find a place for them.

Made a Mishimoto intercooler, a cryo sprayer, turbo-to-intercooler ducts, and commandeered a Wild Willy CO² tank (if this all seems weird you could do worse than this background info).

    intercooler01.jpg

Here it is assembled and painted. Also hacked out some space for it in the grill.

    intercooler02.jpg

Next step is installing the thing, which is going to be a fumble job from hell ::eek
