Thanks for adding me to the forum, new to crawling but been in rc for over 45years,(mostly scale boats, the odd helicopter, and a couple of offroad buggies. Just purchased a Traxxas TRX-4 kit (without body) and am hoping to get some help and advice to help me build my truck. will fill out more details about myself later when I return from hospital app. Regards Steve.

Going to need all the help I can get, fancy doing something with truck cab and open frame with spare wheel on the back(cant remember what this style is called at the moment). The truck is that new I only ordered it this morning so at this moment in time I don’t know what I cant do with it. Cheers, Steve.

Welcome Steve, loads of great people and advice here. I think ‘truggy’ is the term you’re after, a mix of ‘truck’ and ‘buggy’. Google it and loads of inspiration will pop up. From what I’ve heard the TRX4 kit is a great base to start on, looking forward to seeing your build thread 🙂
*edit – I just googled ‘truggy’ and hundreds of cheap nasty rc’s popped up! You might have to search a bit deeper than the surface to get to the best images!

Hi folks, another new member here (thanks for the add Charles).
Found this site after going on YouTube and seeing folks from similar groups in America post their builds, searched for any groups closer to home.
Returning to rc after 30 years. Zero experience in building or customising, but have always wanted to get into that side of rc since a kid. Never owned anything fancy, but a year ago bought a 2wd slash (nothing fancy I know) but it is my ‘test bed’. Learning about gearing and mechanics eg schocks etc. Now looking to build a custom Kamza style Dakar body for it out of 3mm Foamex PVC (?)
I also own a few second hand rtr rcs (buggies, truggies and drift cars) all of which will be customised as I grow in experience.
Will spend a bit of time looking through the various forum posts before I start purchasing materials hahahaha

Welcome to the forum, personally I’d love to see a Kamza Dakar Truck, a Dakar type truck is on my wish/to do list. For styrene/plasticard work I’d recommend checking out Fourth Protocol’s threads, he has quite a few exceptional custom builds to drool over.
Cheers, Charlie

Brilliant many thanks for pointing me in the right direction Charlie. I thought the Dakar Truck would be a good vehicle to start with as it’s very boxy in shape, and as like yourself it’s been on my wish list for a while. Though I have seen Dakar RC trucks, I haven’t seen anything in a 1/10 scale. Anyway, thanks again for the warm welcome and the sign-posting. Much appreciated

Hahahaha, you know the thought did cross my mind, but I don’t think anyone’s build a Dakar shell on a 2wd slash chassis which is what I want to do ….or to professionals like you, put a box on it hahahahaha
To be fair I’ve saved lots of pics of that truck to get an idea of angles and dimensions etc

Hello from Germany,
My name is Markus and I’m back into the RC world after some 20 years. I started again in the last year and scale models are my favorites today. When I look at my garage I have to notice that RC4WD is my favorite brand and right now I’m working on a Toyota TF 2 LWB that resembles an Australian UTE.You can find me on Instagram as mwid63. Thank you for adding me here. There’s a lot of information and great ideas to be found here.

Thank you RetroCosm for your kind words. I’ve only the electronics left to do, but I’ll see what I can do.
