<p style=”text-align: left;”>Time for a new build. Defender 150 6×6 body and chassis from Greens Models.

This will be the support vehicle for my Trayback so nothing to outlandish. Going with a set of Mud Thrashers and some simple alloys.I will update as I go on. I’ve decided not to use the cage in the first couple of pics ?

So not a lot to report other than the SSD Trx4 bumper works rather well with this body.
I suppose I had better pull the trigger on the Shapeways order and get busy with the trimming and painting ?

<p style=”text-align: left;”>1’st chassis mods on the 6×6. I’ve gone with the 80mm GDS shocks as they are good value and work great. ?
Just a subtle touch of bling! ?
I’m now waiting now waiting on the postman for paint and a few detail parts ?

This looks a monster! I’m not a huge fan of 6×6’s but mainly because I’ve never seen one in the flesh; however I’m sure it’s gonna be a grand build because your Landies are always something special (your red trayback is one of my total faves)

Dam these bodies take a lot of paint! 1.5 cans in of primer and I haven’t even started on the main body ?

Postmans been and my Shapeways order is here ? so a bit more mocking up on the D150 6×6 build.
Lost of paint laid down and it doesn’t feel lile I’ve even started ? I’m trying a different technique this time for the window and light surrounds, primer then satin black. Then I’m going to mask the satin black and put another coat of primer down before colour and clear coat. Hopefully I will get nice clean lines ? ?September 11, 2018 at 12:27 pm #103703MemberGrasshopper- Scale Off Road Pro

Looking sweet!
Is that roll bar from Shapeways? I need something like that. Needs to fit the cheapo Chinese D90 bodies though, I think the Raffee ones are a tad bigger..? If you have a link or vendor name I’d be hugely appreciative.

Hi, yes the roll bar is from Shapeways. It might be a little wide for your type of body. This one is 190mm wide. Here is the link,

Wow. I didn’t realise that body was that much bigger scale. I’d be looking for one around 170mm/175mm wide, that’s quite the difference.
Thanks for the info, looking forward to the next update

Im feeling pretty pleased with myself. Doing the black, then masking and doing the main colour has really paid off. Nice clean lines ?
Now the hard part, waiting 48 hours for the clear coat to harden so I can start rubbing back with cutting compound and then polish ?
A least I have a few other things to be getting on with!
Still got to get a ESC, receiver and a steering servo as well ?September 16, 2018 at 8:46 pm #103734MemberBrookers- Ready To Trail
