Today, I’m at the “wow”-level too.

First of all, I define the places for Driver and Pump. The Driver will get a really “hot seat” above the Motor. 🙂

Then I started the ESC and take some trial rounds in the cellar. But at 4×4 without a steering it is unable to handle. As 4×2 it works not well but usable. And so my new Car went out to his first hour of driving and testing into the wilderness of my garden.

And I’m speechless if I see how smooth the backend is turning over the obstacles.  The leafsprings working well too and eliminate every possible bouncing.

I’m happy about the good state of the rig in this early time of beeing.

The Backend is ready to go.

I used some plasticine to figure out the Design and take simplistic Measurements.

Then I use 0,3mm Aluminium sheets and linked them with simple standing seams.

    H06046

After that metal-puzzle I gave him a powder-coating and inside I encrease the stiffness with a layer of epoxy.

Not a really fine work, I know, but it is the rollingcage and will get many bruises and scratches.

    Hi,

there is a lot to do before a video. But it will be shown here.

The last Days I’m bored about waiting for the cylinders. Without them I can’t get further on the front part.

So I build a second option for the Backend. A classic rollcage. 5×1 mm Steel hard soldered

The big port on the top is for my little

    hands to reach the battery.

    H06055

I’m undecided what version I’ll prefer.

After that I’m still bored on waiting and a plan was newly formed. Should I try a own build of a hydraulic cylinder? Some research later I think I should 🙂

First hurdle to jump was the finding a mysterious “X-Ring”-seal.  But I found it in a Shop nerby by Home.

The rest is some trunung and milling.

    Et voila:

    H06059

Looks good and with air it works good too.

( The single open hole is dedicated to the broken machine tap 🙁  )

Today I mounted the hole things together and fill it with oil. Kowingly without a pressur control valve to minimize the number of components I don’t know, if it fail.

    H06061

Some attempts with very low pressure work well. In the overwhelming emotions about the functional cylinder I forgot to integrate the pressure control valve.

You dare say that’s a fault.

    Yes, it was 🙂

A burst tube give me a little mess. Tomorrow I will add the pressure control valve and start another try.

    Impressive stuff as always!

Watching this build makes me feel like a chimp wrestling with a smart phone – I can understand that it is a very complex thing but I’ve no idea what’s going on or why 😀

    Thanks.

but I’ve no idea what’s going on or why

me too, eventually not so often like you, but …  🙂

Today the pressure control valve takes place in the circuit and everything is going well. Up to 15 bar / 217 psi everything is sealed. I’m happy.

Awesome stuff…by the way, I prefer this rollcage to the previous idea..

Just erm, ok well… er, scratches head, wow!  This is quite extraordinary, brilliant in fact.  There’s so much going on here I can’t quite get my head around it but I know I like it, a lot.

    Thank you guys.

Awesome stuff…by the way, I prefer this rollcage to the previous idea..

Meanwhile I’m too, and the Backend has now already change his styling

    H06066

Also the cover for the cables has changed, the first version with the copperweave was not durable enough.

So I wound a thin wire like spiral around the cables and turn over a shrinking tube. This looks good and make the flexible cable a bit stiffer. So the cables not loosen their arc shape.

(Feel free to correct my English , if I wrote weird things or Nonsense 🙂 )

    H06064

Today I’ve cancelled the order of the cylinders and decide to build my own.

First Step to them were the bronce support rings. The prototype loosing oil if you push the pole out of the seal-center. The support rings hold them there. Hopefully 🙂

The tableau is filling up. The corpora are ready. Ok. Almost ready. Just the threads are missing.

    Nominal measure is 17 mm.
